Hi! I'm Orly (she/her), a finalist studying Politics and Philosophy and the SABC President for this year! I'm the first port of call for any organisations interested in working with the boat club - please feel free to email me at [email protected] .
My favourite thing about SABC is the spirit of the club, both for rowers and coxes. Rowing is inherently intensely community-based, and the welcoming atmosphere here has made it not only a lot of fun, but also really rewarding. I joined in my first week at St Anne's having never done team sport before and have learnt so much - both about rowing and coxing and about teaching, organising, and managing! I'm still trying to work out how to get up early every day and not be a zombie though.
This year is looking incredible already, and I'm so excited to see our club expand and push for even better results, both now and in the years to come 😊

Treasurer: Chloe Black
Heya, I’m Chloe and I’m about to be a second year lawyer at Anne’s. As the SABC Treasurer, you’ll mainly hear from me when I ask for merch payments etc, but feel free to message me anytime with questions too! I started rowing as a complete novice at Anne’s last year, and I can honestly say it’s so much fun - you can count on me to bring the energy to early morning outings (most of the time anyway). I hope to see everyone on the water soon!

Secretary: Alice Laidlaw
Alice (she/her) is the SABC Secretary, and is in her 2nd year studying Law. She arrived at St Anne's having rowed and coxed before at her home club, and is now the coach for our novice women!
Her favourite things about the club are the erg playlists, beers on the bungline, and our fabulous sconces.*
This year, she's most looking forward to meeting some novices, and hopefully some sculling!

Welfare Officer: Nicole Dvorak
Women's Captain: Kate McLoughlin
Kate (she/her) is our women's captain. She is in her 2nd year doing Biochemistry, and started rowing when she joined St Anne's. Kate quickly rocketed up to be the speediest member of the team and begin training with the university rowing squad. Now that's she's busy with captaincy, Kate 'only' rows about four times a week, with the rest of her free time going towards her position on the university swimming team!
Her favourite things about SABC are the socials and crewdates (social meals with wine and games), very much deserved after all the early mornings.
This year, she's most looking forward to meeting lots of new rowers!

Men's Captain: Will van Noordt
I'm Will (he/him), the men's captain this year for SABC. I am a fourth-year DPhil studying fluid dynamics, so I suppose water is a speciality of mine in some way! I started rowing at the beginning of Hilary Term 2022 but also enjoy rock climbing and cycling. I am looking forward to getting new recruits ready for bumps and hope to have a great time along the way!
Novice/Lower Boats Captains: Hazel Bott and Jemima Bird
Hey! I’m Hazel (she/her), a second year biomed student and the new novice co-captain, alongside Jemima. Having rowed a bit before uni, I joined Anne’s boat club in my first term and had an amazing year of fun socials, races and outings.
Rowing for Anne’s has shown me some gorgeous sunrises and entertaining bumps races, which has been the perfect way to keep fit and get me out of the library! I highly recommend rowing to anyone and everyone - I’m sure you’ll love it as much as I do :))

Jemima (she/her) is novice co-captain alongside Hazel, and is also in her second year. She is studying French and Portuguese. Jemima learned to row last year and is known for being unfailingly kind and positive, no matter the time or the weather ❄️ She is also currently learning to cox 🎙️
Jemima's favourite thing about rowing at Anne's is the great vibe, even at 6 in the morning. This year she's most looking forward to winning Torpids (obviously😏) and watching the sunrise on outings 😊

Captain of Coxes: Holly Boyle

Hello! I’m Holly, a third year law with French law student and this year’s Captain of Coxes! I’m currently on my year abroad in Paris so you won’t see me around much but rest assured I will be doing all I can to help out with all things coxing related from across the channel! I started rowing when I first arrived in Oxford in 2020 but due to the pandemic didn’t actually get into a boat until Trinity term 2021 - and I have adored it ever since. Rowing has given me a great outlet for any law-induced stress and I have met some of my closest friends through the boat club. I started coxing in Hilary 2022 and absolutely loved the challenge of using my knowledge as a rower from a different perspective. I can’t wait to work with the rest of the committee to drive recruitment of novices, especially coxes, and make this a fab year for the boat club!🐙

Social Secretaries: Lara Ingham and Napsugar Tornyi
One half of the Social Sec duo is Lara (she/her).
She is in her third year studying Classics & English, and her favourite things about SABC are our unique coxing calls and bespoke erg playlists.
Lara learned to row at St Anne's, although her early memories of rowing were a lot of circuits in muddy fields when Covid prevented us from getting out on the water. She and Napsugar worked closely together as captains last year, and will now be using their SABC expertise to organise some brilliant social events! They're also in charge of the most important thing in rowing: the cool sports kit (often known as 'stash' in Oxford) 🎽

Second to last but definitely not second to least is Napsugar (she/her)! Also known as Sugi, she is in her third year studying Psychology & Linguistics. She joined St Anne's with rowing experience and has since learned to cox here on the Isis, one of the busiest rivers in the UK.
Napsugar's favourite thing about SABC is 100% the sense of community, everyone is always friendly and open, happy to be there. Level of experience, course, age doesn’t matter - everyone is always welcome and fully part of the rowing community with SABC
She's excited about welcoming and getting to know the incoming novices (and possibly seniors) and watching them become proper rowers and a part of SABC, and of course also the crewdates :))

Development and Stash Officer: Guy Rudman
Guy is the newest addition to the committee (he/him)! Having been reallocated from the shut-down St Benet's Hall after his first year in Oxford, he has given himself over entirely to SABC, coxing whenever called for, completing any odd jobs he's given, and generally acting as something of a factotum. As a PPE 2nd year, he uses all the time he spends pretending to work on SABC development, reaching out to various people and organisations and trying his very best to seem like he's busy.
Guy's favourite thing about SABC is of course the warm welcome he has received coming in halfway through his "degree", and his eternal gratitude to the committee for including him in the internal workings of the boat club.
Having been part the cox of the successful but last ever Benet's Women's crew in the 2022 Summer VIIIs campaign, Guy hopes to bring as much enthusiasm and momentum as he can, and try and get some more blades on the walls of the boathouse!
