Why join Committee?
To help grow the club and further its march on Head of the River! To envelop yourself into the decision making and leadership that makes SABC run! To learn new skills (communication, leadership, accountancy, organisation and more)! To meet alumnae, learn how to fundraise and then to document that on your LinkedIn. And to surround yourself with a supportive group of rowers and coxes that share a mission and friendship.

Please reach out to any committee member to find more about the role. You can find their Whatsapp in the group chats, or on the slides, or find their email on Outlook.
General guidance
SABC is flexible and welcoming. If you are uncertain, please err on the side of joining committee! The Club has been making rowing accessible at St Anne's for 118 years and the current committee are honoured to further that legacy.
We look forward to receiving your applications!

How elections and the AGM work
- Entertain the idea of running for a committee position! Look through Committee Roles , ask the current folks doing the role about it etc
- Draft a manifesto! Doesn’t need to be anything too complicated
- Send manifesto to SABC Secretary [email protected] by 11:59pm Monday of 6th week (1st June)
- Prepare a short speech for the AGM to advocate your case.

Some advice
- You can run with other people! Some examples
- Ben SR and Ollie ran together as men’s captains
- Danny and Sofia ran together as Social Secs
- The more the merrier! There is no hard limit on the number of captains we could elect. For example, there could be two women’s co-captain, a vice-captain to help run marshalling and swim tests, and two lower boats captains to develop the novice crews and W2/3.
- Run for one position. If the position is vacant at AGM (no applicants) then we can entertain more people stepping up and filling out two positions
- The AGM runs as more of a conversation/ dialogue to fill out committee as best we can. We want more people on committee so we will likely be able to find a position for you! Suppose two people wanted to run for President. We will hold a vote at AGM to determine who gets the role proper. It might then be decided that the other individual could get elected as a vice-president, who would help the president fulfil their duties.
- Better to run and lose than to never run at all!
- It is acceptable to run and hold the position for only 2 terms, ie if you are graduating before Trinity! You can caveat your manifesto with the fact that you have shortened terms etc.
- Equally, you could indicate that you would be looking for someone to take over for your exam period (this is very common and very advisable!)
