Women's Side
The women’s side of St. Anne’s Boat Club had a very successful Michaelmas and welcomed many new members. The focus of the W1 crew was to improve their technique by rowing in the 4 throughout term and then joined Magdalen W1 to enter a composite crew in the Isis Winter League. The main focus of the term, however, was making the newer members of the club feel welcome and preparing them for the Christ Church Regatta. The lower boats did exceptionally well in their races; we formed a full SABC WA and then WB formed a composite boat with Magdalen boat club, training together before the races! With strong commitment throughout the term, the girls did very well. WB, in the composite boat, lost their first race against Pembroke WB but won against Jesus WA the next day. Our WA performed exceptionally well, reaching the quarter-finals and getting knocked-out with a seat failure. We're very proud of what the novices achieved this term. Next term we aim to build on this success and hope to welcome new members into the W1 boat and maintain a strong W2 crew, so that we can enter two crews into Torpids. The main aim of the women’s side of the club for Torpids is to keep W1 in the second division and to get W2 into a fixed division.
